When your kids won’t eat their veggies….make SMOOTHIES!

AidonLoganSmoothieSip.png

Uggh! I am currently transitioning from pescetarian to vegetarian. I am slowly but surely eliminating dairy from my diet. During my 2nd and 3rd trimesters I maintained a plant-based diet…so why won’t my baby eat her greens 😣! Now, to be clear, I am a great healthy-lifestyle chef and have a knack of masking the good-for-you stuff in deliciously irresistible tasting vittles, but my 3 y/o is just not buying it! I mean I get the whole head turn, hands-out-push-away, and verbal exclamation ‘EWWWWW’! I roast carrots and spice them up to make them sweet like candy (no added sugar mind you 😊). Can roast a green bean so mean that it will make the staunchest fast-foodie forget about French fries. I can crisp kale so good you won’t be able to ‘….eat just one’. But she wouldn’t budge!

Then it hits me, it was so obvious if it were a snake it would have bit me…

S-M-O-O-T-H-I-E!

That’s it! She would think it’s a treat from mommie when in reality she’s getting packed full of veggies! More veggies than most adults probably consume in a day, and without any added sugars- natural or otherwise. And you know what…..IT WORKED!! She absolutely loves them. Her bowels are even more regular and green (ok, TMI, but you parents out there with this same problem are finding this to be valuable😲). Other than the fact that I have to change up the flavors every now and then to keep her guessing, I conclude this case *SUCCESSFULLY CLOSED*.

For your convenience I’ve added some smoothie combos that worked for my angel:
