RECIPE: Zesty Penne Pasta w/ Grilled Asparagus

Asparagus is super nutritious rich in vitamins A, C, and K. This crisp green weight loss agent is also super beneficial in pregnant women. It's important to also know that in preparing asparagus you want to trim about an inch off the ends as they can be very 'woodsy' in texture and inedible. The secret weapon of nutritional yeast adds a hint of cheese appeal while incorporating beneficial minerals by the forkful. Strategically pairing a fun short pasta as penne lends to an easy, quick, fun and filling meal for kids and kids at heart. But the best part of this dish is that it's a perfect way to repurpose leftover veggies!

Let's get cooking!


  • 4 cups prepared penne pasta, (cooked al dente in salted water)

  • 2 cups prepared Abstract Lemon Salt & Pepper Grilled Asparagus (see recipe below)

    • ~1 lb fresh asparagus

    • 2 tbsp olive or grapeseed oil

    • Abstract Lemon Salt & Pepper Seasoning

      1. Trim, wash, and cut asparagus in half and add to a large bowl

      2. Add oil and seasoning, coating asparagus completely

      3. On a high-heat grill surface or pan, cook asparagus for no more than 4 minutes until bright green with grill/sear marks.

  • zest of half a lemon

  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice

  • 2 tbsp nutritional yeast

  • 1 tsp granulated garlic

  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

  • Abstract Rose Sea Salt to taste


  1. Combine the above ingredients and toss until well incorporated adding Abstract Rose Sea Salt to taste.
