ACAOF’s homemade granola

Conjured up this recipe because I got pissed with the prices of the granola in stores that cost and arm and a leg and don’t have nearly as much good stuff in theirs as I put in mine 🙂

BUT REMEMBER you can add or remove whatever you choose to make your granola ‘uniquely- yours’!

ACAOF Granola

Here’s what you’ll need:

– baking sheet

– 1 cup oats

– 1 cup nuts of your choice (as many varieties as you like to equal a cup)

– 1/2 cup ground flaxseed

– 1/2 cup raisins or other dried fruit of your choice

– 1 tsp cinnamon

– 1 tsp nutmeg

– cap full of vanilla

– 1/3 cup canola oil

– 1 pinch of cayenne (yes cayenne!  Add a little spice in ya’ life!)  Also aids in the digestive system 🙂

– 1/2 tsp salt

-cooking spray

– 1/2 cup Agave nectar or a light syrup such as Karo is good or even honey for a binding agent

Here’s what you do:

-Pre-heat oven to 450

-Combine and mix thoroughly ALL dry ingredients with canola oil

-Spread out on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for approx 6-7 minutes or until you smell the toasted mix

-Reduce oven temp to 400

-Pour toasted mix into a large bowl and add nectar/syrup and mix well until evenly distributed

Note: the more nectar/syrup added the more solid your granola will be (excellent for snacking by itself)

the less nectar/syrup added the less solid your granola will be (excellent for a topping for yogurt or fruit)

-Spread sticky mix out onto a greased(cooking spray) baking sheet and bake on 400 for 10 minutes or until you smell the sticky mixture toasting

-Let cool for 15-20 minutes and enjoy!

Make it a Great Homemade Granola Tasting Day!
